This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the EU. In the latest W.E. Talk, Hussein Askary, vice-chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden, noted that climate is one of the easiest areas for China-EU cooperation. China emphasizes investing in new technologies to drive a green transition without sacrificing livelihoods or economic growth, while Europe often relies on restrictive measures that may undermine economic sustainability. The two sides should leverage their complementary strengths in technology and design, deepen collaboration, and pursue high-quality green development that balances growth with environmental protection.
